These bowls are coiled in heavily grogged black clay which gives a highly textured surface. They are then lined with porcelain slip - sometimes in multiple layers – to give a crackled effect on the inside of the bowls. The delicate cracked porcelain layers contrast beautifully with the dark, heavy, gritty surface of the bowls.
